VinFast, a Vietnamese electric car company, has opened its first showroom in India in Surat, Gujarat, before beginning its factory operations in the country. This showroom marks a big step in VinFast’s journey in India. Called ‘VinFast Surat,’ it was opened by Chandan Car, a well-known name in Indian vehicle retail. VinFast Auto India, the company's Indian branch, announced the launch on Sunday.
The showroom, in Surat’s Piplod area, sits on 3,000 sq. ft. and serves as a full-service centre for future buyers. It offers vehicle displays, purchase options, and after-sales support. The showroom will feature VinFast’s upcoming electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7. India is the first country where VinFast is launching the right-hand-drive versions of its electric SUV models.
VinFast plans to open 35 showrooms across more than 27 cities by the end of this year. Pre-bookings for the VF 6 and VF 7 began on July 15, 2025. Customers can book a car at the new showroom or online at VinFastAuto.in by paying a fully refundable fee of ₹ 21,000. These vehicles will be locally assembled at VinFast’s future plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, underscoring India’s role as a key market and manufacturing hub for the company.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said the Surat showroom shows the company’s strong commitment to India. He added they aim to deliver a full, high-quality ownership experience built on trust and service. VinFast has teamed up with Chandan Car to handle its vehicle sales in India. It also teamed up with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure for charging infrastructure and vehicle support. For eco-friendly efforts, VinFast is working with BatX Energies on battery recycling and sustainable battery use.
VinFast, which belongs to Vietnam’s Vingroup company, is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange in the US. It makes only electric vehicles, including SUVs, e-scooters, and e-buses. Now, it is expanding its global reach with more dealerships and factories across North America, Europe, and Asia.
